Welcome
Welcome to the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce web site. The Chamber has proudly represented the local Peninsula business community for nearly 35 years over a wide range of important issues. Being a voluntary organisation, your Executive give their time freely to assist businesses in each of our unique retail/commercial centres consisting of Woy Woy, Umina Beach and Ettalong Beach together with the surrounding small industrial areas at Rawson Road, Alma Avenue and Blackwall. This Chamber is also a founding affiliated member of NSW Business (Central Coast) which entitles its members to a range of support services through the NSW Chamber organisation. As President of the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, I also hold the position of a Councillor of the Regional Advisory Committee (Central Coast) for NSW Business. This provides the Chamber with a direct voice in regional affairs.
In addition, as President of the Chamber, I am afforded a seat at the quarterly Integrated Chamber Meetings with the General Manager of Central Coast Council and its Directors which enables this organisation to influence decisions affecting our town centres and local communities.
As a voluntary organisation, our main role is to represent and lobby all levels of Government including the Central Coast Council, NSW Government and Federal Government through their elected representatives. In this capacity, we are able to influence important Government decisions that affect our local business community. In recent times, the Chamber was instrumental in ensuring that funding was made available through both the NSW State Government and Central Coast Council for the dredging of the Ettalong Beach channel with the view to the renourishment of the Ettalong Beach foreshore. The Chamber was also influential in ensuring that the NSW State Government provided $35M in funds for the upgrading of the Maitland Bay Drive/Picnic Parade intersection and safety improvements to Blackwall Road and Woy Woy Rod. More recently, the Chamber influenced the decision by the Federal Government to allocate $32M to the upgrading of the Rawson Road/Ocean Beach Road intersection which is due to commence in 2025.
The Chamber is also lobbying Central Coast Council and the NSW State Government for safety upgrades and traffic lights at the Woy Woy rail crossing after a succession of accidents at the infamous crossing with the view to preventing further incidents.
Importantly, it was partly due to representations from the Chamber that the NSW Minister for Planning included Woy Woy on the Transport Infrastructure Development (TOD) list which will improve height and floor space ratio controls and encourage redevelopment around the Woy Woy rail station (including much needed affordable housing).
The Peninsula Chamber is the local business communities voice on important issues. We welcome all those who would like to be members and participate in our activities. As always, the Chamber will continue to work closely with Government, local businesses and other organisations. Be a part of the process and join us today.
