BRISBANE WATER OYSTER FESTIVAL HUGE SUCCESS

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has today welcomed the huge success of the 24th Brisbane Water Oyster Festival following a huge turnout of over 20,000 people at Lions Park Reserve on Sunday.

“We were once again amazed at the huge level of community support for this iconic event”, said Peninsula Chamber of Commerce President Matthew Wales.

“Even after 24 years,  they came in their thousands to experience the fun and entertainment including our famous Sydney Rock oysters”.

“Over 4,000 dozen oysters were consumed all being supplied by Whittens Organic Oysters, Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed, Davo’s Seafoods and Westray”.

“And of course, no Oyster Festival would be complete without the famous “How Many Oysters Can You Eat in 30 Seconds” which drew a big loyal crowd. The record this year was 25 oysters”, said Matthew Wales.

“This amazing event would not have been possible without our wonderful naming sponsor, Deepwater Plaza and major sponsors Bruce Kerr Pty Limited, MARS Group, Central Coast Council, Six Strings Brewery and Triple M Radio”.

“Our community is truly fortunate to have some wonderful outdoor venues such as Lions Park that are able to cater for big events like the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival and full credit to Central Coast Council for sprucing up the reserve prior to the event and showcasing our wonderful foreshores and waterways”, said Matthew Wales.

“And a big thankyou to the amazing crowd that turned out on Sunday with our local NSW Police reporting that it is one of the best events that they have participated in”.

“I think everyone was impressed with the venue and the first-class entertainment provided by Jenifer Green from G’Day Hollywood Productions with Freddy Aguilera & the Ipanema Latin Band and Belinda Adams and the Soul Traders live on stage”, said Matthew Wales.

“And a special thanks to Rhonda and the hardworking girls at PWP Events for their professional management of the event which ran like clockwork”.

“Once again we hope to bring the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival to our local community next November for our 25th anniversary”, said Matthew Wales.
