Angel Irwin
Golden Mane Hair Lounge
West Street, Umina Beach

Angel started her business in 2020 and after operating for six months COVID hit and she was forced to close for four months.  While businesses struggled, she made it through and re-opened to the success story she is today. Golden Mane celebrates six years this November.

Angel has refreshed her salon twice in the past five years and has rebranded to Golden Mane Hair Lounge and it has been a huge success story that we are all very proud of.

Angel employs six young women in her business, all fantastic young women who are very keen to spoil their clients.

Recently, Golden Mane supported the families who lost their homes in the Koolewong fires last December by collecting good quality clothes and delivered boxes to Vinnies.  They also support ‘Junior’ a well-known local who sits in Umina Beach most days selling raffle tickets and give aways for kids. Junior raises funds to buy toys to give away to local kids and children’s hospital at Christmas so nobody misses out on Christmas.

Angel is a very proud local girl who enjoys growing her business and being a part of the Umina Beach retail community. “It is a beautiful place to live, work and play”.

Debra is an urban design consultant who established the family business over 30 years ago.  She has worked on many urban design projects on the Central Coast and throughout NSW.

Her highlights throughout her career have been establishing the highly successful Peninsula Mainstreet Program which upgraded and revitalised our three local town centres on the Peninsula. She has contributed 25 years of in-kind design experience and lobbied all levels of government for various community projects. For the Woy Woy town centre, this included the upgrade of the waterfront parks and the historic library forecourt. In the Umina Beach town centre, she administered a $1.5m Council grant which included the underground power lines and the planting of the 60 iconic Cabbage Tree Palms together with the repaving of footpaths and street furniture. Ettalong Beach was promoted as a tourist destination with shopfront upgrades, paved retail centre footpaths and the strategic planting of Canary Island Palms. Debra lobbied for funding to construct the three viewing decks over the beachfront and prepared the original design for the Ettalong Beach waterfront reserve upgrade. This work continues to ensure the town centres are well maintained so as to attract visitation and investment.  Debra has event managed many events for the Chamber such as the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival now in its 26th year, The Peninsula Business Awards and Christmas street events as well as the Umina Beach Centenary.  She has worked for the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years.  Having raised her family on the Peninsula, she is heavily invested in the local economy.
