The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has today congratulated Council’s Community & Culture Team on the recent installation of the historic photos on the exterior of the Umina Beach Library in West Street.

“This is a great collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce and Council which has resulted in several iconic historic photos of Umina Beach, reflecting its rich social history ranging from classic photos of West Street to the surf club on our unique beachfront”,  said Peninsula Chamber of Commerce President Matthew Wales.

“It is important to recognise our local history and remind our new residents how our area has grown, and the lessons we have drawn on from the past, that has made Umina Beach such a successful town centre and a wonderful community to live in.”

“Congratulations to Central Coast Council for the installation of our historic photos showing our way of life”, said Matthew Wales.

“This is part of an ongoing business relationship with Council’s Community & Culture Team which aims to progressively upgrade our public spaces and build better town centre outcomes”.

“It is important to recognise that clean, vibrant and activated retail centres promote good business and generate jobs and investment” , said Matthew Wales.

“Many wouldn’t realise that the famous Reptile Park at Somersby began its roots in Umina Beach as The Ocean Beach Aquarium owned by Eric Worrall on the corner of Augusta Street and the building still remains there today at the top end of West Street”.

“As we have always said, it is great to know where you come from, even better to know where you are going”,  said Matthew Wales.
